Jacoby Dimitri Jones is a former American football wide receiver and return specialist who played in the National Football League (NFL) for 13 seasons. He was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft and also played for the Baltimore Ravens, San Diego Chargers, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Las Vegas Raiders.
Jones was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on July 11, 1984. He attended Warren Easton Charter High School, where he played football and ran track. He was a standout athlete, earning all-state honors in both sports. After graduating from high school, Jones attended Lane College, a historically black college in Jackson, Tennessee. He played football for the Dragons and was a two-time All-American.
Jones was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2007 NFL Draft. He spent two seasons with the Texans, primarily as a return specialist. In 2009, he signed with the Baltimore Ravens, where he quickly became one of the most dynamic returners in the NFL. He was named to the Pro Bowl four times and was a First-Team All-Pro three times.
In 2013, Jones signed with the San Diego Chargers. He spent two seasons with the Chargers before signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2015. He won a Super Bowl with the Steelers in 2016. In 2017, Jones signed with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he spent the final season of his career.
Jones retired from the NFL in 2018. He finished his career with 3,880 receiving yards, 26 receiving touchdowns, 3,089 rushing yards, 12 rushing touchdowns, 3,120 punt return yards, seven punt return touchdowns, and 1,347 kickoff return yards. He was one of the most dangerous returners in NFL history and was known for his speed, agility, and elusiveness.
Jones was also a successful track and field athlete. He was a two-time All-American in the 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. He also competed in the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece.
